Competition Overview

The World IP Day Youth Video Competition 2026 is a global creative challenge for young people who are passionate about sports, innovation, and intellectual property (IP). Organized in celebration of World IP Day, the competition invites participants to produce a short, engaging video that explains how IP rights drive creativity and technological progress in the sports industry.

Under the 2026 theme, “Game Changers: IP Powering Sports Innovation,” entrants are encouraged to explore how patents, trademarks, copyrights, and designs support athletes, creators, startups, and entrepreneurs in sports. From sports technology and branding to media, fashion, and equipment design, the competition highlights how innovation is shaping the future of sports worldwide.

This opportunity is open to young Africans, including Nigerians, who want to showcase their creativity on a global stage while gaining practical insight into intellectual property.

Eligibility Criteria

To participate in the competition, applicants must meet the following conditions:

  • Entries may be submitted individually or as a group of up to 10 members
  • Each individual or group is allowed only one entry
  • At least one person in the team must be aged between 18 and 35 years at the time of submission
  • The submitted video must be between 60 and 90 seconds long
  • All content must be original and aligned with the competition theme

This competition is suitable for students, creatives, filmmakers, entrepreneurs, athletes, and young professionals interested in sports, media, law, innovation, or technology.
