The scholarship is designed for students with strong academic records who aspire to become future leaders and change-makers, using advanced education to positively contribute to their communities and countries after graduation.
Scholarship Overview
Under the African Excellence Award scheme, the University of Glasgow will offer up to 16 scholarships to eligible African students. Each award covers 100 percent of tuition fees for a one-year postgraduate taught Master’s degree in any discipline offered by the university.
Postgraduate diplomas and certificate programmes are not eligible for this award.
Who Can Apply
To be eligible for the University of Glasgow African Excellence Award, applicants must:
- Demonstrate academic excellence, with grades equivalent to a UK First-Class Honours degree
- Apply for and hold (or be in the process of securing) an offer for a one-year postgraduate taught Master’s programme starting in September 2026
- While an offer is not required at the point of scholarship application, applicants must have an offer to be considered for interview
- Have international fee status
- Be domiciled in Africa and hold a passport from one of the eligible African countries
- Clearly demonstrate a career and/or development plan that will be supported by Master’s-level study
- Meet the UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) living costs and financial requirements for international students
