Applications are now open for the DAAD Development-Related Postgraduate Courses (EPOS) Scholarships 2026/2027, a fully funded opportunity for talented professionals from developing and newly industrialised countries to pursue postgraduate studies in Germany.
The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) supports development-oriented Master’s and PhD programmes aimed at training highly skilled specialists who can contribute to sustainable development, poverty reduction, improved education systems, and better healthcare in their home countries.
Through this scholarship, selected candidates can study at state or state-recognised German universities and earn an internationally respected Master’s or doctoral degree.
About the Scholarship
The DAAD EPOS program is designed for foreign graduates from all academic disciplines who already have professional experience and demonstrate strong motivation to drive social and economic development after completing their studies.
In exceptional cases, candidates may also be considered for doctoral (PhD) programs.
Eligibility Requirements
Applicants must:
- Be a citizen of an eligible developing or newly industrialised country (see official country list)
- Hold a Bachelor’s degree (usually a four-year program) in a relevant field
- Have at least two years of professional work experience after graduation
- Demonstrate strong academic performance (top third preferred)
- Possess adequate language proficiency (English and/or German, depending on the course)
- Show clear development-related motivation and commitment to social responsibility
Duration of Funding
- Between 12 and 42 months, depending on the selected study programme
Scholarship Benefits & Financial Coverage
Successful applicants will receive:
Monthly Stipend
- €992 for Master’s students
- €1,300 for PhD students
- €1,400 for PhD students (from February 2026)
Additional Coverage
- Health, accident, and personal liability insurance
- Travel allowance (if not funded by another source)
Possible Extra Benefits
- Monthly rent subsidy
- Monthly allowance for accompanying family members
