IMPACT Kenya is inviting applications for the position of Project Accountant for the Women’s Economic Empowerment and Resilience in Pastoralist Communities (WEE-RESP+) project. Based in Nanyuki, Kenya, with extensive travel across Laikipia, Samburu, Isiolo, and Marsabit counties, this role ensures strong financial governance, compliance, and transparency in a complex, multi-county development program.
The WEE-RESP+ project focuses on revitalizing the goat milk value chain and empowering pastoralist women through cooperative-led economic initiatives. By integrating economic, social, environmental, and institutional solutions, the project enhances women’s leadership, entrepreneurship, and resilience while promoting sustainable livelihoods and climate-adaptive practices.
Eligibility
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related fields
- Professional qualification: CPA (Part II or above) or ACCA Level 2 or higher
- Minimum of 3–5 years’ experience in project finance or accounting
- Experience with donor-funded projects or NGOs is strongly preferred
- Knowledge of NGO financial systems, donor compliance, and audits
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial management software
- Fluency in English and Swahili; knowledge of Maa is an advantage
- Willingness to travel extensively across project counties
- High integrity, accountability, and attention to detail

Key Responsibilities
- Budget Management and Monitoring: Support preparation, tracking, and review of project budgets, flag variances, and coordinate corrective actions
- Financial Processing and Controls: Prepare and review payment requests and vouchers, ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with internal and donor regulations
- Financial Records and Reporting: Maintain complete financial records, manage asset registers, and support internal and donor reporting
- Compliance and Audit Support: Ensure adherence to IMPACT policies, donor regulations, and Kenyan statutory requirements; support audits and guide staff on financial practices
