Applications are now open for the 2026 Google for Startups Accelerator Africa Program, a three-month hybrid accelerator designed to support growth-stage technology startups across the African continent.
The Google for Startups Accelerator Africa is part of Google’s global accelerator initiative, bringing together the company’s technology, products, people, and expertise to help African founders solve complex technical challenges and scale sustainable businesses. The program combines remote and in-person engagement, creating a flexible but highly intensive learning environment.
Each cohort consists of 10 to 15 startups that participate in one-on-one mentoring, group learning sessions, and focused sprint projects aimed at accelerating product development and business growth. Founders begin the program by outlining their most pressing technical challenges and are then paired with experts from Google and the wider technology industry to address those challenges directly.
The accelerator also features specialist deep dives and workshops covering critical growth areas such as product design, customer acquisition, leadership development, and long-term company strategy. These sessions are tailored to the realities of scaling technology startups in emerging markets.
Participants gain access to a wide range of Google product benefits. Eligible startups receive early access to Google’s AI products through Trusted Tester and Early Access Programs, as well as the opportunity to apply for Google Cloud credits to support infrastructure and growth needs. Startups working in machine learning may also qualify for free Cloud TPU access to accelerate open-source ML research.
The program offers equity-free support for the entire duration, along with dedicated mentoring from Google teams, strategic guidance on company and product direction, and access to Google’s global network of industry experts. Founders also receive invitations to exclusive technical bootcamps hosted by Google where available and collaborate directly with Google engineers on key technical projects.
The accelerator is open to startups that are demonstrating traction and are ideally at the growth stage. Applicants should be building scalable products or services with a large total addressable market and a defensible growth model. Startups are expected to be deeply technical, preferably leveraging technologies such as machine learning and artificial intelligence. Commitment from the CTO or other senior technical leaders is required to fully engage in program sessions. Google encourages applications from all qualified startups and is committed to building diverse and high-quality accelerator cohorts.
