Applications are now open for the 2026 AI for Good Impact Awards, a global initiative organized by the International Telecommunication Union to recognize outstanding and responsible uses of artificial intelligence that address real-world challenges.
Following the success of its inaugural edition, the AI for Good Impact Awards return in 2026 to spotlight transformative AI solutions that improve human well-being, promote sustainability, and strengthen economic resilience. The awards celebrate innovators who are applying AI ethically and effectively to create measurable positive impact across societies, economies, and the environment.
Award recipients will receive global recognition and will be honored at the AI for Good Impact Awards Ceremony during the 2026 AI for Good Global Summit in Geneva, one of the world’s leading platforms for dialogue on artificial intelligence and sustainable development.
Award Categories
The AI for Good Impact Awards 2026 feature three major categories, each recognizing excellence and innovation across critical global sectors.
AI for People
This category focuses on human-centered AI solutions that empower individuals and communities. It highlights projects that improve quality of life, advance inclusion, and expand digital participation. Areas of focus include healthcare and well-being, education and lifelong learning, digital inclusion for women, persons with disabilities, and vulnerable populations, as well as poverty reduction, food security, and access to essential services.
AI for Planet
AI for Planet recognizes solutions that leverage artificial intelligence to protect the environment and advance sustainability. Eligible projects include those addressing climate change mitigation and adaptation, biodiversity conservation, ecosystem protection, water management, pollution reduction, circular economy initiatives, and renewable energy optimization.
AI for Prosperity
This category rewards AI-driven initiatives that build resilient economies and strengthen institutions. It includes solutions that support sustainable cities and infrastructure, economic growth, industrial innovation, smart manufacturing, logistics optimization, energy efficiency, governance, justice, peacebuilding, and data-driven public policy.
Prizes and Recognition
Winners of the AI for Good Impact Awards 2026 will receive an official AI for Good Impact Award trophy, global recognition and media exposure, and an invitation to attend the AI for Good Global Summit 2026 in Geneva, providing access to policymakers, technology leaders, innovators, and international stakeholders.
Who Can Apply
Applications are open to a wide range of stakeholders, including small and medium-sized enterprises, large corporations, non-profit organizations, academic and research institutions, government bodies, and individual innovators working on impactful AI solutions.
Judging Criteria
Applications will be evaluated based on innovation, demonstrated impact, and alignment with global challenges. Judges will assess how original and effective the AI solution is, the scale and measurability of its social, environmental, or economic benefits, and its contribution to the chosen category. Additional evaluation criteria include sustainability, responsible resource use, long-term viability, and adherence to ethical AI principles such as transparency, accountability, and respect for privacy.
