Solutions Journalism Network Opens Applications for 2026–2027 Health Disparities Fellowship
The Solutions Journalism Network (SJN) has announced the opening of applications for its 2026–2027 Addressing Health Disparities Fellowship, a year-long initiative aimed at strengthening newsroom coverage of health equity in Latino communities across the United States.
The fellowship is designed to support seven selected newsrooms with funding, training, and expert guidance to improve reporting on health disparities while embedding solutions-focused journalism into everyday editorial practices. Participating newsrooms will receive mentorship, coaching, and financial support to produce rigorous, impactful stories that examine both health challenges and effective responses within Latino communities.
According to SJN, the Addressing Health Disparities Fellowship equips journalists with the tools needed to deepen coverage of the systems, policies, and social conditions that shape health outcomes. The program places a strong emphasis on solutions journalism, an evidence-based reporting approach that examines how people and institutions are responding to social problems and whether those responses are working.
